OnePlus has announced the newest member of its mid-range Ace series in China, called the OnePlus Ace 6T. This is also the phone that will eventually be launched as the OnePlus 15R in other markets.

The OnePlus Ace 6T will be the first phone to launch with Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip. We currently don’t know much about this chip, and while it’s easy to assume it would be slower than the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, it’s not clear where it sits with regard to the previous flagship, the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
Other features include a 6.7-inch 1.5K resolution 165Hz OLED display with an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, dual 50MP main + 8MP ultra-wide camera system on the back along with a 32MP selfie shooter, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings, vapor chamber cooling, and finally, a massive 8000mAh battery with 100W fast charging. The phone will be running on the latest ColorOS 16 in China.
The Ace 6T will be available in three colors, black, green, and purple. The phone will use the micro-arc oxidation for the metal frame as seen on the OnePlus 15. The black and green will have a silky texture for the glass back while the purple uses a fiberglass back.
It’s fair to say now that the upcoming OnePlus 15R will be based on this new Ace 6T model rather than the Ace 6 as we had previously assumed. The only difference we can see for now is that the 15R does not come in the purple color of the 6T but retains the black and the green. Whether there are any further localized changes remains to be seen.
