Huawei’s latest foldable is here – meet the Mate X7. It brings a few notable upgrades over its predecessor, including updated IP58 and IP59 ingress protection, Huawei’s latest Kirin 9030 Pro chipset, a new telephoto camera and a slightly larger battery.
While the Mate X6 was already a slim and light device, Huawei managed to shave off some size on the X7, which now measures 9.5mm in its folded state and 4.5mm unfolded. At 235 grams, the X7 is 4 grams lighter than its predecessor while still retaining its sturdy aluminum frame.
The IP58 and IP59 ratings mean the Mate X7 is dust-protected and water-resistant against splashes and even close-range high-pressure water jets.
Huawei Mate X7 features a 6.49-inch cover screen with an 8-inch main screen
Mate X7 gets slightly larger displays with a 6.49-inch cover screen with a 20.4:9 aspect ratio and an 8-inch main screen with an 8:7.3 ratio. Both are LTPO OLEDs with a 1-120Hz variable refresh rate and 1,440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming.
In terms of cameras, you get the same 50MP main camera from last year with an RYYB sensor, 10-stop physical variable aperture (f/1.4-4.0), and OIS. The telephoto sensor is now updated to a 50MP sensor with a wider f/2.2 aperture and 3.5x optical zoom. The third shooter on the back is a 40MP ultrawide. You also get two 8MP selfie cameras – one on the cover screen and one on the inner screen.

Mate X7 is equipped with Huawei’s top-of-the-line Kirin 9030 Pro chipset, just like the freshly announced Mate 80 Pro and Mate 80 Pro Max. While we don’t have its detailed specs just yet, the new SoC reportedly features a nine-core ARMv8 architecture with a prime core clocked at 2.75GHz, 4x performance cores @ 2.27GHz and 4x efficiency cores @ 1.72GHz. That’s paired with 12/16GB RAM and up to 1TB storage.
Mate X7 features a dual-cell Si-C battery with a combined 5,600mAh capacity. It supports 66W wired and 50W wireless charging. The device will boot HarmonyOS 6 out of the box in China and also features satellite connectivity.

Huawei Mate X7 comes in Black, White, Purple and Red colors. The baseline 12/256GB trim starts at CNY 12,999 ($1,830) while the 12/512GB version will go for CNY 13,999 ($1,970).

The 16/512GB Collector’s Edition will go for CNY 14,999 ($2,111) while the top-of-the-line 20GB/1TB version is priced at CNY 17,999 ($2,534). Open sales in China are scheduled for December 5.
