Google is bringing its Gemini AI to your smart home with the launch of the aptly-named Gemini for Home. Additionally, it launches several new cameras and a new speaker that enable cool new use-cases.
The new Nest Cam Indoor (3rd gen), Nest Cam Outdoor (2nd gen) and Nest Doorbell are upgraded with better sensors that allow for a resolution bump to 2K video with HDR to boot. The increased resolution is critical for good AI results, Google says.

The cameras can send you alerts with a text description (e.g. “dog jumps out of play pen”) and a short video clip of the event. If you need to look up a moment in the past, you don’t have to manually scroll through hours of video – the Ask Home feature can answer tricky questions like “What happened to the vase in the living room?” Finally, Home Brief will deliver a quick summary that condenses hours of footage.

The new high resolution sensor has other advantages too, e.g. you can zoom to focus on the area of interest. Additionally, Gemini for Home will deliver zoomed-in animated previews with each alert. Google is also doubling the event video history for this new generation of Nest cameras from 3 hours to 6 hours. This is a combination of 10-second clips for each event paired with a text description of what happened.
The cameras also have a wider aperture, so they can stay in full color mode for longer – during dawn and dusk. They are equipped with IR LEDs for night vision too, of course.

The Nest Doorbell has an extra wide field of view
The Nest Cam Indoor and Nest Cam Outdoor have a 152° FoV, while the Nest Doorbell has a 1:1 image aspect ratio with a 166° FoV, so you can see both packages on the ground and the faces of people at your doorstep. The Outdoor cam and the Doorbell are rated IP65, so they can survive wind, rain and snow.
The Nest Cam Indoor is available for $100, the Nest Cam Outdoor is $150 (also available as a 2-pack for $250). These can be found on the Google Store and partner retailers in the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland.
The Nest Doorbell is available only in the US and Canada and costs $180. Note that the Gemini for Home features are available in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland and Australia first. New markets will be added in early 2026.
If you are in the US, Google has partnered with Walmart to release onn-branded cameras that are fully compatible with Gemini for Home. The onn Camera Wired is $23, the onn Video Doorbell Wired is $50.

Google is also launching a new Home Speaker that is designed specifically with Gemini for Home. It plays 360° audio and has on-board processing to speed up AI interactions, plus an RGB LED ring that shows when Gemini is listening, thinking, reasoning or responding and when it is in Gemini Live mode.
Previously, Google Home speakers could be paired for stereo sound. The new model also supports connecting to the Google TV Streamer 4K. And you can mix and match Home and Nest speakers for multi-room music playback too.
