Google recently launched the Gemini 3 Pro AI model, as well as Nano Banana Pro which is based on it. From the get-go, free Gemini users got access to up to five prompts per day, which was the same limit enforced before for Gemini 2.5 Pro. Additionally, free users could also use Nano Banana Pro with three images per day.
However, in the past few days the company has updated these limitations, and things have become murkier. The official website just says you get “Basic access” to Gemini 3 Pro if you don’t have the Google AI Pro and AI Ultra paid plans. The same goes for Nano Banana Pro.
Obviously, Google would very much like you to pay for AI Pro or AI Ultra, but it’s probably also true that it’s seeing usage grow at an exponential rate. With that in mind, it’s still nice that it actually does allow some free usage of the latest model and hasn’t just made it available to the paid plans.
