Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days kick off on Tuesday next week, but there are some good deals available this week too – and you don’t even need a Prime subscription for them.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 took a couple of weeks off from discounts, but now it’s back at it – with $150 off its normal price, you can have the base 256GB model for under $1,000. Doubling the storage is a $120 upgrade.
If you compare the 512GB models, the Z Flip7 and the Motorola Razr Ultra 2025 are just $30 apart. The Motorola boasts a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, instead of Samsung’s Exynos 2500, with more RAM to boot (16GB vs. 12GB). It also has a larger battery (4,700mAh vs. 4,300mAh) with faster charging (68W/30W vs. 25W/15W). Motorola picked a 50+50MP wide + ultra-wide camera combo, while Samsung equipped the Flip with 50+12MP cameras.
At around the same price, you can grab the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra – this one has superior cameras to both flip foldables. And it is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite instead of an Exynos chip. Display sizes are comparable (the S25 Ultra display has about 10% more surface area), but the S Pen support opens new possibilities.
Amazon unveiled new Kindle Scribe models this week, but they are still marked “coming soon”. You can pick up the original Scribe with a 25% discount.
The new model has a larger 11” display, up from 10.2” on the first generation. Even so, it’s also 33g/1.2oz lighter. The display is 40% faster when writing or turning pages and features a new textured glass that improves the writing feel when using the stylus. Another speedup comes from the new quad-core CPU with extra RAM.
Additionally, Amazon launched a Kindle Scribe Colorsoft – same 11” display size but now with colors. Note that this is a $130 upgrade over the grayscale Scribe. The Kindle Colorsoft, Amazon’s first e-reader with a color display, has a much smaller 7” display. It’s a lot cheaper too, though with no discounts at the moment (but check again next week).
