Spotify has announced its collaboration with OpenAI to help you discover your favorite tracks, create personalized playlists, and receive podcast recommendations on Spotify with the help of ChatGPT.
To get started, begin a conversation in ChatGPT and include Spotify in your prompt. When you do it for the first time, you’ll be asked to connect your Spotify account.
Once your Spotify account is connected to ChatGPT, you can ask ChatGPT for songs, albums, artists, playlists, or podcast episodes, and it will automatically bring up the Spotify app in your chat and use relevant context to complete the task.

Additionally, you can ask ChatGPT for recommendations based on a mood, theme, or topic, and Spotify will offer personalized picks in the conversation. Spotify recommends including as many details as possible in your prompt for best results, such as genre, mood, artist, and topic. In the case of a podcast, you can also include the host or a guest from the podcast.
However, it’s worth mentioning that you can’t listen to the music or podcast inside ChatGPT, but you can open the recommended content in Spotify directly by clicking on it in the conversation with ChatGPT.

Spotify said that this ChatGPT integration is available to its users on both the Free and Premium tiers. Free users will be able to source from Spotify’s catalog of playlists, such as Discover Weekly and New Music Friday, already available on the app, while Premium users “can take it a step further by having Spotify turn their more elaborate prompts into a fresh and fully personalized selection of tracks.”
This Spotify integration is also live in ChatGPT in English across 145 countries for ChatGPT’s Free, Plus, and Pro users on both web and mobile (Android and iOS).
Spotify said that users might not get the best experience through this ChatGPT integration as it is still in its early days. However, the company has promised to “build, refine, and improve the experience over the coming weeks and months.”
Moreover, the audio streaming company stated that connecting Spotify to ChatGPT is optional, and it will not share any audio or video content on its platform with OpenAI for training purposes.
