Toyota showcased the BZ4X electric SUV at the Auto Expo 2025. This compact SUV holds significance as Toyota’s first mass-market all-electric vehicle, co-developed with Subaru. The BZ4X’s presence at the Expo suggests Toyota may be evaluating its potential for the Indian market.
Toyota BZ4X Exterior Design
The BZ4X features a curvy, futuristic design that avoids being overly stylised. The front end includes sleek headlights, a small lower grille, and vertical air deflectors on the sides of the bumper. The side profile showcases the crossover styling, with noticeable rear haunches and distinct character lines. The rear design incorporates wraparound taillamps, a small spoiler, and 6 parking sensors. The connected taillamps, a central chrome Toyota “T” logo, and model/powertrain badging complete the rear view.
Toyota BZ4X Powertrain Specs
The variant showcased at the Auto Expo 2025 was equipped with dual motors and all-wheel drive (AWD), though Toyota also offers a single-motor version internationally.
The Toyota BZ4X is available in 2 variants in international markets – 1XM (single motor) and 1YM (dual motor). Both variants come equipped with a 71.4kWh battery pack. The BZ4X with the single motor configuration puts out 204PS of power while the dual motor variant of Toyota electric SUV produces a combined power output of 218PS.
The front-wheel-drive variant of the BZ4X offers a claimed range of 510km while the dual motor version offers 460km on a single charge. Both variants come with 2 drive modes – eco and normal – and both also feature regenerative braking with boost mode. The all-wheel-drive BZ4X also offers snow, dirt, deep snow, mud and grip modes.
Potential India Launch And Rivals
While not confirmed, the BZ4X’s presence at the Bharat Mobility Expo indicates Toyota’s interest in gauging market response for a potential Indian launch of this electric SUV. If launched, the BZ4X will rival the likes of other electric SUVs such as the Volvo XC40 Recharge and Kia EV6.
